In a fierce battle in 919, hundreds of years after it was first invented, gunpowder was used in battle. It was not used in the shape of a musket though. It was used to light something similar to a flamethrower. Gunpowder was invented way back in the 2nd century by a man named Wei Boyang but its original purpose was to aid in medicine. Its was not used in a harmful way until the 10th century. A surprising fact to many is that it was also not used in muskets until 1500 years after its invention when the turks discorvered its many propetys
