Description:
As the Assyrians drawing near from the north, Israel made a coalition with the surrounding states (Tyre, Ashkelon, and Edom). The coalition attacked Jerusalem, the capital of Judah, in an effort to force Judah to join the anti-Assyrian coaltiion.
King Ahaz pledge Judea into Assyria as a vassal state, asking Assyria to defend against the Coalition. This action was condemned by the prophet Isaiah as a lack of trust on God, which lead to eventual destruction of Judah.
