jan 1, 1347 - The Black death
Description:
In 1347, when a bubonic plague spread throughout Europe killing between 30-60% of all human life, people knew little about it and it was feared widely. The reason this plague was so deadly was mainly due to how little people knew about diseases. The common way to treat the black death back then was to suck the blood out of you. It was believed this would also suck all the bad diseases out of you. These treatments where both ineffective and sometimes dangerous.
The type of plague it was also played a role in how deadly it was. The black death is a bubonic plague, meaning it uses animals such as fleas to transmit itself from human to human.
The plague lasted four long years and there are many theories to how it ended. The most popular of these being quarantine but no matter how it ended it is known as the most devastating plague in human history.
