Description:

This Amendment restricted the authority of federal courts. It was the first amendment made after the Bill of Rights. Before the 11th amendment individuals from one state could sue another state (Chishdim v. Georgia Alexander tried suing the state of Georgia over money due to him from the revolutionary war
). Once the amendment was made citizens from one state could no longer sue another state.
