In 1996, hip hop artist DJ Shadow released the first album to be solely made through electronic samples, which he named "Endtroducing". Using samples was common practice for many hip hop artists at the time, but DJ Shadow was the first to rely on just sounds that he sampled from other musical sources to create a new song. Endtroducing is a great example of how electronic music redefines the boundaries of music creation as it took drums from one song and mixed it with drums from another, and then took vocals from one and overlaid them onto another set of vocals to create harmony. What already existed in music can be reshaped and reborn through the digital process, and DJ Shadow showcased this concept brilliantly.Added to timeline:
