dec 1, 2006 - Vocaloids

Description:

Thanks to the rapid pace of technological advancement in technology during the 21st century, computers were able to create artificial singing voices. The first synthetic "singing" software, or Vocaloid, was released in 2004. This software made it possible for more people to create music that had vocals since paying a vocalist can be very expensive and it requires a lot of time to find and record with the right human vocalist. With more people using the synthetic human voice instrument, music in many genres was influenced by the electronic sound available through Vocaloids. Vocaloids are used all around the world, but artists and businesses in Japan seriously helped to popularize the software through the creation of Vocaloid mascots like Hatsune Miku. With a name that means "the first sound of the future", Hatsune Miku is a fictional character created to give personality to the digital voice that people hear from the Vocaloid software. Despite not being the actual creator of the songs, the music posted under Hatsune Miku's name became immensely popular due to the clever marketing and the unique electronic vocals that she produced. She currently sits at around 1.3 million monthly listeners on Spotify, making her not only one of the more popular artists but also the most listened to Vocaloid.
