mar 1, 1983 - Roland TR-808

Description:

The Roland TR-808, commonly referred to just as the 808, is a synthetic drum machine made by Roland Corporation. Although the timing is unclear, it is believed that have been made some time between 1980 and 1983. Among the emerging catalogue of electronic instruments, the 808 was the first to allow users to program the drum parts rather than use preset samples. The 808 used analog synthesis, which is similar to the Moog Synthesizer, to program each individual percussive sound one at a time. This allowed musicians to bring a new layer of depth and variety into the music written during the Chiptune Era and beyond. Revered for its accessability and unique booming bass sounds, the Roland TR-808 is a staple instrument for creating any kind of electronic music even to this day.
