Description:

On March,1977, Terry Fox discovered that he had bone cancer on his right leg. He then started a campaign called “Marathon of Hope” for people who have cancer. Terry wrote to the Canadian Cancer Society to support this run with quote “I am not a dreamer, and I’m not saying this will initiate any kind of definitive answer or cure to cancer, but I believe in miracles. I have to.” He has been using a prosthetic leg in order to run in the marathon.
On June 28th,1981, Terry unfortunately died at the Royal Columbian Hospital in New Westmister, British Columbia. Fast Forward to May 2016, the Foundation announced that over 715 million dollars has been raised to support cancer research under Terry’s name. The Marathon of Hope is still continuing to this day.
