Description:

The war of 1812 was a military conflict with the United States and Great Britain. Canada was also apart of the war as a colony with Great Britain and was attacked a number of times by the Americans. The war was located (between Canada and the U.S) in Upper Canada, Lower Canada, on the Great Lakes and the Atlantic, and the U.S. This war gave Canada a national identity, with the idea that the civilian soldiers were greatly responsible for rebelling against the American intruders. The First Nations people had suffered because this war (lost of many warriors, and any hope of halting American expansion in the West). Their contributions were forgotten by their British and Canadian allies. The reason for this war was a man named ¨Napoleon Bonaparte with his intention to take over the world. The war came to an end in 1814 by a peace treaty of Ghent, that largely returned the status quo.
