Description:
Jacques Cartier was the first European to set across and sail in the St. Lawrence River. Cartier wanted to sail to Asia, but stumbled to this land and met the two sons of the Iroquois Chief Donnacona who were guiding Cartier. The two sons called their land “Canada” (which means village in the Iroquois language). Cartier sailed to the land called “Stadacona” which is now Quebec and met met many Iroquois.the Iroquois weren’t happy when Cartier sailed/parked their boat in the sea, but helped them fight scurvy thanks to a plant.
