A major scandal under President Harding where the newly appointed U.S. Secretary of the interior, Albert Fall, would accept bribes in exchange for the leasing of federal oil reserves in Teapot Dome, Wyoming, and other oil lands. This would make Harding aware of the corruption in his administration, and would send the secretary to jail in 1929.
