Description:

The Divide of the Korean Peninsula
Before WWII, Japan primarily had control over Korea. However after the war, Korea was given to the United States and the Soviet Union. They divided the Korean peninsula in half along the 38th parallel, giving the North to the Soviet Union (communist) and the South to the United States (democratic/anti-communist).
