The first commercial automated cellular network (1G) analog was launched in Japan by Nippon Telegraph and Telephone in 1979. It operates on a high frequency and the maximum speed of 1G technology is 2.4 Kbps. It is part of the first generation of analog technology. It is suitable to the phone during those times as the phones using it had poor battery life and voice quality, little security, and were prone to dropped calls.
