jan 1, 1910 - The Conciliation Bill

Description:

This was a cross party compromise which proposed dropping the idea of votes for working class women in return for Parliament's granting it to women who owned property. Emmeline Pankhurst accepted this, however it came to nothing as Asquith declined. It showed how unclear the votes for women campaign could be.
