may 1, 1945 - End of World War II

Description:

VE Day, meaning Victory in Europe, marks the acceptance of defeat of the Nazi (German) to the Allied forces of several countries largely led by England, the US, and USSR (now Russia). Canadians made a huge contribution and sacrifices during the war in their support of the Allied forces. After VE Day, Canadian forces immediately began liberating much of Western Natherlands, including Amsterdam and Rotterdam, two of the largest Dutch cities. Canadian forces brought the Dutch food and supplies that were sorely needed.
