Description:
This continuous railroad line connected from the Eastern United States railroads to the Pacific Coast in the West. Construction took place beginning in 1863 and finally finished six years later in 1869. The first transcontinental railroad was significant because it drew a firm connection between the East and the West of the U.S. and therefore further encouraging communication between the two.
