Johnny Depp jumped on board a boat to sail to his concert in Stockholm tonight amid heightened security - and claims he has been hiding away in his hotel room.

Eight security guards surrounded the star as he arrived in Sweden following allegations he abused his wife Amber Heard, who has filed for divorce.

The 52-year-old, who has checked into an £8,000 suite on the top floor of Stockholm's best hotel, then leaped into a boat to amusement park Gröna Lund where he is playing with The Hollywood Vampires.

His security team were overheard in the lobby of Stockholm's Grand Hotel saying 'We've gotta protect Johnny at all costs' and deciding he should use the same entrance as Justin Timberlake when he visited earlier this month.

They then ushered him onto a boat which sped towards the theme park venue where the supergroup are playing to a sold-out crowd of 30,000.

Depp lost his mother three days before Heard, 30, demanded a restraining order following claims he hurled a mobile phone at her face.

A crew member told MailOnline Depp hides away in his room: 'He is always keeping to himself. Ordering room service and never spends time with the band'.

The actor and his band The Hollywood Vampires are currently on a European tour, they played in Germany yesterday and will play in Denmark tomorrow evening.

Another crew member said: 'We have all been told not to talk about Johnny for obvious reasons. He is under a lot of stress at the moment and talk about him might affect the band.'

The band have faced calls for a boycott of the super-group's concert in Stockholm under the twitter hashtag #ImWithAmber.

The backlash is in response to allegations Depp's soon-to-be ex-wife Heard made in court papers last week, claiming that the 52-year-old actor hit her in the head with a cellphone during a 'drug and alcohol-fueled fight' at their home on May 21.

But the boycott failed to materialise tonight as tens of thousands packed into the Grona Lund amusement park, on Djurgården Island. The Hollywood Vampires is a super-group featuring Depp, Alice Cooper and Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry.

Earlier it was claimed that Ms Heard could get $20million in a divorce settlement with after just 15 months of marriage.

She was spotted laughing and joking with her lawyer as she stepped out of court on Saturday where she filed for divorce.

She was photographed with a faint bruise on her face after claiming that Depp domestically abused her, allegedly throwing an iPhone at her after a row apparently over his dying mother.

Heard went public after Depp's lawyers rejected her claims for $50,000 (£34,000) a month in support, $125,000 (£85,000) for her legal fees, their LA penthouse, his Range Rover and custody of their Yorkshire terriers.
