dec 20, 1917 - The Bolsheviks' Consolidation of Power
Description:
Even as Lenin's representatives signed the final treaty that ended Russia's involvement in World War I, the Bolsheviks were in the process of relocating their capital.
The Cheka was given the task of implementing Bolshevik control. Lenin placed at its helm a Polish revolutionary called Felix Dzerzhinsky, who would soon become legendary for his organization's lethal actions. Tens of thousands of individuals would be slaughtered under Dzerzhinsky's command during the next few years.
