(Term 2 Event) This involved two battles in which territory was lost on both sides. Ultimately, the British army led by John Burgoyne were eventually forced to surrender to the Americans on October 17.
1. Marked a major turning point in the war in favor of the Americans.
2. Restored the confidence and determination of the American people as they were able to defeat a force much stronger than theirs.
3. Showed the importance of good leaders. George Washington made many great strategic moves that helped the Americans win the battle. John Stark also contributed greatly as a leader.
