what?- The compromise called for California to be a free state, Utah and Mexico were to be territories without restriction on slavery, the trading of slaves but not slavery should be ended in Washington D.C., a more strict version of the fugitive slave act should be passed, and Texas should surrender the disputed land in New Mexico in return receiving $10 million.
