nov 26, 1938 - "Americans All-" - Patting the Immigrants on the Back... Pathfinder Magazine 1938, Nov 26

Description:

Pathfinder Magazine 1938, Nov 26 - Americans All- - Patting the Immigrants on the Back...

"While some European nations persecuted their minorities last week, the U.S. Department of the Interior set out to flatter America's with a series of radio programs entitled Americans All - Immigrants All ... Designed to prove that America could never have become so great without the contributions of immigrant English, French, German, Irish, Scandinavians, Latins, Central Europeans and others, the programs will be heard for 24 more Sundays, at 2 o'clock (EST) over the Columbia Broadcasting System.'"

Such a flexible government agency was the Department of the Interior! Four years after they produced these immigrant-flattering radio programs, they saw to it that all the Japanese-Americans living on the country's West Coast were locked-up behind barbwire fences. Harold Ickes was FDR's director of the department and this grim work was carried out by another agency within the department called the War Relocation Authority
