I have always loved reading, I was really looking forward to high school English class. Mr. Wells was my freshman English teacher. The first book we read was Great Expectations. I hated it. I hated every book I read that year. Mr. Wells was not interesting, he was not personable, he did not find ways to relate this text to his students in any way. Then, at the end of the year he became the nicest guy and opened up about his personal life and just had a lighter mood. This showed me how important it is to do this at the BEGINNING of the year, not the end of the year. By the end of the year I didn’t care, because I would never have him again.
