Description:
Joseph's specialty when it comes to teaching excels in writing. So he spent his last years writing columns for the "Bonnyville Tribune", shaping a genuine picture of the truth in Indigenous history because he believed that historians of the dominant culture always mixed in fiction with the truth when writing about the Indigenous Peoples. He wanted to re-shape that image because it was twisted by people who saw themselves superior opposed to those they were writing about.
He also spent his last days writing manuscripts, an autobiography. What better way to express his decades long support and dedication to the welfare of Indigenous and Metis people, than to make an story and example of his life and everything he was able to accomplish despite his place in the subordinate culture?
