mar 4, 375166666 BC - Panderichthys, Ichthyostega, and Tiktaalik
Description:
Panderichythys was long thought to be a transitional fossil, but is likely part of a later, separate lineage of tetrapodomorph lobe-finned fish.
Ichthyostega was a transitional species from the earlier, fishy tetrapod-type organisms to the proper tetrapods, possessing well-developed lungs and better nostrils.
And yet another good example of an early species transitioning towards amphibians was the fleshy-lobe-finned Tiktaalik, which lived during the Carboniferous.
