Storming of the Bastille: the Bastille was a medieval fortress and political prison in the center of Paris that was controlled by royal authority. Parisian revolutionaries and troops stormed and dismantled the Bastille, which was symbolic of the tyranny of the monarchy. As people began to hear of the storming of the Bastille, people in other parts of France began to rise up aganst the clergy and nobles who had controlled them,starting the revolution.
In this event French Nationalism changed dramatically as people began to see they could overtake the monarchy and givernment they lived in. People began to see their potential and abilities and that they no longer needed to follow the monarchs rules.
