Description:
This was where Richard A. Ballinger, the secretary of the interior for Taft, would allow the purchase of a million acres of public land in Alaska. As a result, Gifford Pinchot, head of the Forest Service, would be enraged and publicly accuse Ballinger. Taft would later investigate and fire him.
