jan 1, 1662 - Hereditary Slavery Law
Description:
In 1662, Virginia passed the Hereditary Slavery Law. This stated that kids born from mothers who were slaves, were automatically slaves. This meant that children could be bought or sold, because they were seen as property as well.
This is important because more slaves were gonna be needed for when the cotton gin was created.
