Description:
Nikita Khrushchev's successor as dictator of the Soviet Union. Brezhnev further decreased Soviets' cultural freedom and dealt with economic stagnation. The Soviet Union was spending too much money on their military and the development of nuclear weapons that it was negatively effecting their economy. Although the economy was lacking, the standard of living in the Soviet Union got better and the tension between the East and West decreased.
