MORTDECAI
Description:
Lawyer: Showing you what’s been marked as Exhibit 253. It’s an email from you to people at Lionsgate. Who were Mr Friedman and Mr Feig?
TJ: Rob Friedman at the time was the chairman of Lionsgate. he no longer is. And Eric Feig, I believe , was the president and he no longer is.
Lawyer: And are you telling them here that Johnny thinks the script is great?
TJ: No. I’m telling them that Gwyneth Paltrow thinks it is. That says ‘GP Mortdecai’ who starred in the movie with Johnny.
Lawyer: Gotcha. You said I told her - that’s Gwyneth Paltrow - that Johnny took a financial haircut. What are you referring to here?
TJ: That Johnny didn't get paid 20 million dollars; he got 15 with a back end instead.
Lawyer: What was the purpose of sending this e-mail?
TJ: To confirm with the heads of the studio that we were doing everything we could to get the movie made, because “Mortdecai" was actually a movie that Johnny and Christi developed that was put into turnaround from Warners, and I set it up with Jake at Lionsgate.
Lawyer: What did Jake do?
TJ: Jake was very close to Robby Friedman and was very helpful and we set it up together very quickly.
Lawyer: And this deal did get done?
TJ: Yes. The movie got made.
