jan 1, 867 - John Scotus Eriugena

Description:

The Periphyseon was rediscovered in 1681 in Oxford and retitled: De divisione naturae. It was immediately put on the Index, having been already condemned by Honorius III in 1225 as "swarming with worms of heretical perversity" as well as condemned by Pope Gregory XIII in 1585.

It is the magnum opus of ninth century Irish theologian Johannes Scotus Eriugena.

The Division of Nature has been called the final achievement of ancient philosophy, a work which "synthesizes the philosophical accomplishments of fifteen centuries."
