Description:

-Set up in 1925, wore black uniforms.

-Orignially Hitlers personal bodyguards. Hitler was obsessed with Napoleons private protection unit and wanted to have his own.

- They all were made to wear the name of 'Adolf Hitler' on their arm and were idolised as the top of the top in the German Army.

They were later decided into three sections:

*The SD looked after 'security'. They could arrest anyone for any reason, search homes and seine property.

*The Waffen SS - elite unit in the army

*The Death heads unit - ran the concentration campos and later the death camps.
