In 1821, Greek citizens revolted to end the rule of the Ottoman Empire. Many people became tired of the mistreatment and didn't want to deal with the ruling body. Greeks then went to seek help in their revolt from Western Europeans. With the help of Britain, France and conservative Russia, the Greeks forced the Ottomans to give them Greek provinces. By 1830, Greece became independent.
