may 14, 1941 - Congress instituted the Women’s Auxiliary Army Corps

Description:

The WAAC was formed in spur of Pearl Harbor for the purpose of making national defense knowledge open to women. Because the WAAC was not thought to be important part of the military, the women could not get government-issued insurance. When President Roosevelt signed a legislation that changed the Women's Auxillary Army Corps to the Women's Army Corps, women gained the ability to move up in rank and benefits similar to their male counterparts.
