jun 20, 1944 - The first man-made object to cross the karmac line/enter space

Description:

The first artificial object to cross the Karman line was sent into space called the V2 rocket, with the technical name, the Aggregat 4 (A4). These rockets were built as German war missiles, known as their “Vengeance Weapon”. These missiles were powered with a liquid rocket fuel engine and designed to attack cities that were allied with Germany due to previous attacks against German cities. One of these rockets just happened to be the first artificial object to cross the Karman line. It was developed primarily by Wernher von Brauhn. A V2 rocket was first successfully launched on October 3, 1942 and then again on September 6, 1944. Around 15, 000 people died at the hands of the V2 missile whether it was due to an attack or manual labour while building. The rocket was 14 meters or 47 feet tall. On June 20, 1944, a V2 rocket reached a peak altitude of 175 kilometers (109 miles), making it officially the first manmade object/rocket to cross into space. This project and collection of missiles was successful in reaching space and proving that it is possible to reach those heights but it failed many with such high body counts.
