Description:

This was the first union (working relationship) between the Frankish kingdom and the church. This led to a centralizing of authority in Europe, which (in part) they accomplished by centralizing worship practices--hence, the spread of Gregorian chant as opposed to other forms of chant (i.e. Ambrosian, etc.)

Arguably the first domino in a chain of events that led to the development and spread of musical notation throughout Europe!
