apr 8, 1913 - 17th Amendment

Description:

The 17th Amendment states that "The Senate of the U.S. shall be composed of 2 Senators from each state, and elected by the people thereof, for 6 years; and each Senator shall have one vote" Since they wanted the nation to be democratic this Amendment allowed voters to cast direct votes for U.S. Senators. It also strengthened the link between citizens and the federal government.
