mar 3, 1820 - Missouri Compromise

Description:

The Missouri Compromise was passed on March 3, 1820. This bill made it so that Missouri was admitted as a slave state and Maine would be a free state. States north of the 36 parallel would be free states and those south would be slave states. This left an equal balance of Northern and Southern senators. This led to the publication of David Walker’s book as the tensions regarding slavery increased and more people began to speak out.
