Description:

World War 1 officially began on July 28 when Austria-Hungary declared war on Serbia. This was triggered by the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria-Hungary. The US did not join the war until April 2, 1915, partly caused by Germany's aggression in their submarine warfare towards neutral ships.
