Description:
This amendment was the cause of the prohibition movement. It outlawed the sale, manufacture, transportation, importation, and exportation of alcoholic beverages. However, it did not prohibit the consumption aspect, and organized crime increased greatly during this time period as speakeasies and illegal alcohol sales went up. It was eventually repealed on December 5, 1933.
