6h 58min, may 4, 1861 y - Anaconda Plan Early 1861

Description:

The Anaconda plan was a strategy created in early 1861, devised by Union General Winfield Scott. The plan was to essentially constrict the South like an anaconda, closing in on all sides, cutting off outside reinforcement and trade, resulting in the economic collapse, as well as geographic collapse of the South. The North partially adopted the plan later in the war, when they realized that attacks from only the North could not win the war. This plan can be seen later on in the Battle of Vicksburg.
