jun 19, 1999 - The Beginning of CS: Counter-strike BETA 1.0
Description:
The 1999 Half-Life-based mod, Counter-Strike beta 1.0 was released, in which players first learned the immense appeal of the T (Terrorists) and CT (Counter-Terrorists) struggle. The mod quickly became a hit in major communities, with players immersed in it and enthusiastically discussing the game's tactics and play style.
It even overshadowed two of the biggest games of '98, Unreal Arena and Delta Special Forces.
Realizing the potential of this mod, Gabe Newell acquired all the CS content and brought the production team into the official development team.
Half-Life Counter-Strike was released in 2000. It turns out that Newell was not wrong. In the years that followed, CS was constantly updated and numerous versions were created, and the popularity of the game spread to more than 20 countries around the world as players' adrenaline levels soared.
Some say that wherever there was a computer on the planet, there was a CS. And its influence even surpassed that of its older brother, the Half-Life series, which became a milestone in fps gaming.
