dec 1, 1803 - Louisiana Purchase
Description:
The Louisiana purchase gave the United States about 828,000,000 square miles of territory from France, which doubled the size of the junior republic. The land stretched from the Mississippi River in the east to the Rocky Mountains in the west and from the Gulf of Mexico in the south to the Canadian border in the North. 15 states were created from the land negotiation. The Louisiana Purchase is considered the greatest achievement of Thomas Jefferson’s presidency.
