Arabella Mansfield graduated from Iowa Wesleyan University, and by the state of Iowa was allowed to practice law which was a HUGE for the advancement of women in the United States. By passing the bar exam with high marks, which at the time was only made available to men, she challenged the law in court which eventually lead to Iowa meding it’s laws. She also worked with Susan b anthony and helped organize the Iowa Woman Suffrage Society. This alone sparked events that brought a more prominent role in the workplace for women and created a need for an expanded job market, met by the industrial revolution as men, women, and children all worked together in factories.
