The Treaty of Versailles is a peace treaty signed June 28, 1919 between Germany and the Allies at the end of the First World War.
Prepared during the Paris Conference, the treaty was signed on June 28, 1919, anniversary of the Sarajevo bombing, and promulgated on January 10, 1920. It announced the creation of the League of Nations (SDN) and determined the sanctions taken against Germany and her allies. The latter, who was not represented at the conference, was cut off from certain territories and deprived of her colonies, and was forced to make heavy economic reparations and severe restrictions on her military capacity.
