George Marshall was the Secretary of State and Secretary of Defense under President Harry S. Truman. Previously, Marshall was a US General during WWII and was awarded Time magazine's Man of the Year in 1943 because of his leadership. As Secretary of State, Marshall created an important economic plan, called the Marshall Plan. His plan was so effective that Marshall was awarded a Nobel Peace Prize in 1953.
