jan 1, 1020 BC - Kingdom of Israel
Description:
Saul was their first king and was followed by David. The latter unified all 12 tribes. His son, Solomon, led Israel to its pinnacle. He built the first church.
Israel’s independence was challenged when, together with Damascus and Judah, it was conquered by Tiglath-Pileser III of Assyria. When the Chaldeans defeated the Assyrians, Nebuchadnezzar II gained control of Israel. He destroyed it and captured the Hebrews. Several years after, the Persians dominated the region and Cyrus the Great conquered Israel. He allowed the Hebrews to go back to their land and build temples.
