Description:
Salvador Allende was overthrown with the USA's support in 1973. US were interested in Chile's copper and silver mines and a US company dominated the telecommunication systems in Chile.
There was a fear they would succumb to Communism.
To the USA Allende was another Castro. CIA took change of planning a coup which failed and led to Allend's Presidency.
