sep 16, 1985 - Steve Jobs Resigns from Apple

Description:

Jobs resigned as Chairman of Apple Computer on September 16, 1985, after losing a boardroom battle for control of the company with CEO John Sculley. The Macintosh had strong sales, but not enough to break IBM's dominance. This led to a lot of friction between Jobs and Sculley and it got to the point that Apple's board specifically instructed Sculley to "control" Jobs. Apple's board eventually voted Jobs out of the company, so Jobs resigned. Using $12 million of his own money, he went on to found NeXT Inc. that same year, which is a computer and software company.
