8h 47min, aug 6, 1945 y - Hiroshima and Nagasaki- August 6th 1945

Description:

August 6th 1945- The US demanded unconditional surrender from Japan but the Japanese vow never to give into an unconditional surrender. This made the war, even longer because now America and Japan cannot make a negotiation or a treaty. The US starts bombing military targets first and firebombing cities. The Manhattan project back in the US led by Robert Oppenheimer, makes a nuclear weapon called the A-bomb and the damage of this bomb was beyond belief. The new President Harry Truman tell the allies about the bomb and on July 26th the US give Japan an Ultimatum. “Unconditional surrender or face prompt and utter destruction. Japan refuses, so on August 6th the Enola Gay drops an atomic bomb on the city of Hiroshima, destroying 80% of it, and killing 68,000 instantly. (118,000 and more in total). The next target was Nagasaki. The bomb killed another 30,000 instantly. This was important for WW2 because this was the last event that occured before the end of world war two.
