apr 18, 1942 - Doolittle Raid- April 18th 1942
Description:
Lieutenant James Doolittle planned an air raid on the Japanese mainland. The US owned little territory close to Japan in the Pacific other than the midway island, so they used them as a place to launch the attacks. There were specific plans to bomb Tokyo, the capital of Japan. This bomb in particular did very little damage, but was great for the US public’s moral and great for propaganda. The soldiers going to this mission they were aware that it was almost a suicide, but sixty one of the men survived.
